Cherokee CRC, LLC named SBA's 2011 Region VI Prime Contract of the Year!
Cherokee CRC has been selected as the Small Business Administration's 2011 Prime Contractor of the Year for Region VI.  The company was nominated by Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, OK.  Cherokee CRC has provided a broad range of design-build, preconstruction, construction and construction management services for Tinker Air Force Base.
 
The Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year award recognized the outstanding contributions small businesses, including those owned and operated by minorities and women, make to the U.S. Department of State.  Only companies demonstrating the highest degree of excellence in performance of U.S. Department of State contracts are nominated.
 
"We are so very excited and proud of our team for their superior work and dedication," said Cheryl Cohenour, president of Cherokee CRC.  "To be nominated for this award by our client and selected by the SBA is a great recognition to the employees of Cherokee CRC and the Cherokee Nation as a whole."
 
The SBA selects a panel of judges made up of small business specialists from government agencies to select a winner from the pool of nominees.  The nominees are judged by their overall management, delivery performance, technical capabilities, labor relations, cost performance, special achievements, resource utilization, customer interface, financial strength and exceptional results.
 
"All fo the nominees are considered to be the best small business prime contractors by the government agency making the nomination, so the winner is really the 'best of the best' in this region," said Bob Taylor, the SBA's area director for government contracting.
 
Cherokee CRC employees who worked on the Tinker AFB project will be attending the National Small Business Week celebration held in Washington D.C., May 18-20, where they will be recognized by the SBA.

The National Small Business Person of the Year, Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year, and Small Business Subcontractor of the Year will be announced and honored the week of May 22, 2011 at an event during National Small Business Week in Washington, DC.

FAA Awards Cherokee CRC, LLC with Best of the Best Small Disadvantaged Business of the Year
Cherokee CRC, LLC has been awarded the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Best of the Best Award in Small Disadvantaged Business category.  The award was presented to Cheryl Cohenour at the 2010 FAA National Small Business Procurement Opportunities Training Conference and Trade Show on June 29, 2010 in Oklahoma City, OK.  Cherokee CRC was nominated for the award by FAA AFS-400 for outstanding support in numerous efforts during the past year.
